If you live in Idaho or Utah and have not been to The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Café, then you need to stop whatever you are doing right now and get over there ASAP! Even though I eat a mostly “Pegan” diet that consists of about 80 percent Paleo and 20 percent Vegan, I like to splurge every once in a while and this is one of my favorite places to go when I need a sweet fix!
The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Cafe
I have been a fan of The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Café from the first week that they opened their doors in small college town Rexburg, Idaho in 2008. They create the most beautiful cupcakes and I have to admit that I am not normally a cake fan but these cupcakes have changed my mind! They have 28 regular flavors on their schedule with 11 more surprise flavors that they rotate. See their cupcake schedule. My all time favorite cupcake flavors are Caramel Apple Pie, Luscious Lemon Blueberry, Raspberry Chocolate Cheesecake, and Party in my Mouth.
As if the cupcakes aren’t enough to draw you in, they also have the most AMAZING hot cocoa!!! The hot cocoa is actually what made me fall in love with the Cocoa Bean Cupcake Café. This is no ordinary hot cocoa either, they use roasted cocoa beans and serve it espresso style, deeming The Cocoa Bean as the Mormon Starbucks, since they provide a bold, rich, and roasted hot beverage. They have a variety of hot cocoa options or you can create your own by adding in a shot of flavoring. My favorites are the Irish Cream Cocoa Bean and the Hazelnut Cocoa Bean but I know that the Zebra is pretty popular as well. You can also ask for your cocoa bean drink cold; frappe style.
The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Café has added to their menu from their original beginnings. They have partnered with local Reed’s Dairy in Idaho Falls to have their specialty cupcakes incorporated into fresh ice cream, creating 14 awesomely fabulous flavors that you cannot get anywhere else (Ammon and Rexburg locations only)!
Also on their menu, Milkshakes, Italian Sodas, Mini Cake Pops, Sugar Cookies that are dressed with mouth watering toppings, and Mini Cupcakes. Their special blend of hot cocoa powder is also packaged so that you can take it home and make your own. They do customized special orders, catering and special deliveries in Provo, Utah to the MTC. I have been to a lot of wedding receptions where they have served The Cocoa Bean cupcakes and they present beautifully!
The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Café has expanded and now has 3 locations. (See Below) Also find them on Facebook or on Instagram where they are currently doing a Mother’s Day Giveaway. If you need some ideas for Mother’s Day this is an excellent place to take her or get her a gift certificate. Co-owner Gloria at The Cocoa Bean, emailed me and told me that they have some exciting things coming up so stay tuned for those announcements!
